Evelyn Hecht's Profile and Contact Information
With an immense respect for her father, Larry, who had been running the family business for nearly 20 years, and a passion for automobiles, Evelyn Hecht joined Hecht & Hecht Insurance in 1993. Starting as an assistant, answering phones, entering data and providing general office duties, Evelyn has progressively worked her way to becoming President of the agency while building solid relationships, expert knowledge and a respected reputation in the industry.
An avid automobile enthusiast, Evelyn bought her first car – a 1966 Black Mustang Coupe – with her own money, and still smiles when she thinks about driving it. With an unquenchable thirst for knowledge regarding all things related to the auto industry, one of her favorite trips of the year is when she attends the Barrett Jackson Auto Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Evelyn’s quest for knowledge extends far beyond automobiles. While working full time at Hecht & Hecht Insurance, she enrolled in law school to gain the valuable education and experience that it would offer to enhance her business acumen and to expand her knowledge base. While Evelyn is not a practicing attorney, her education provided her a broader view of industry regulations, requirements and structure that make her a better business partner and consultant for clients.
Being a part of the family business is important to Evelyn and with the sense of purpose and drive that her father instilled in her, she knows the value of the family name and the importance that implies in transcending a traditional business commitment. She looks forward to going to work each day, to growing and building a family legacy, and to fulfilling a commitment to the local community and region.
Evelyn is active in the local community, working with the North/Northeast Neighborhood Association, participating in Community Development meetings, and being an active partner in the Martin Luther King Jr. Annual Clean-Up Event. In 2011 she was appointed to ODAC, Oregon DMV Advisory Committee serving as the Insurance Agent Representative At-Large. In 2015 she was appointed as Vice-Chairperson of ODAC. Evelyn joined the board of the Professional Insurance Agents Association (PIA) in 2014, a path that her Father also pursued in the late 1980's. She volunteers as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), working as an advocate for children who find themselves in the custody of the state as well as serves on the Real Estate Committee for Bridge Meadows.
On a daily basis, Evelyn works as an advocate for her clients – both commercial clients and individuals. She acts assertively and passionately to ensure that her clients are provided with the best available options, and performs as a knowledgeable and effective mediator and negotiator, providing peace of mind and consistent results for those she represents.
Evelyn is a graduate of George Fox University and Concord Law School. She lives in North Portland and is the proud owner of Jackson Red, the office dog.
